We will work with our service users and staff in order to ensure that all decisions are made with service users directly in mind. It is important that the manager knows the service user, the important people in their life and GCS staff. We believe this enables us to build on the quality of the services we provide.
GCS has a management team with diverse experiences gained while working in social and health services; and independent sector providers.
We are committed to know and understand our service users well, for example – how they want to be supported, what they want to achieve in life and what is important to them to enable us offer the right individualised support relevant to them. Every person we support has an outcome-focused support plan, which looks at how we can work together to make their aspirations a reality. We regularly conduct Person-Centred Reviews (based on each individual support plan) with the people we support and the important people in their lives. These approaches help us to ensure that we’re always supporting people to achieve the outcomes they want.
As a management team, we continuously ask ‘how do we know things are happening’ in ways they should. In order to make sure they are, we use the following methods:
- Monthly service checks with each service user;
- Attendance at support team meetings;
- Provide open access to service users and support staff to ask questions;
- Read the daily records from each service every month and question anything that doesn’t match the plan;
- Attend bimonthly meeting with staff and service users who live in our supported accommodations;
- Reviews of incidents, accidents and reports of concern; and
- Provide 24 hour on call including bank holidays and weekends.
In addition, we regularly check the quality of our services to ensure and establish that we are giving people the support they want and need; when they want and need it; and in the way they want it.
We are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for Personal Care. CQC inspect us on a regular basis this can be announced or unannounced.
